Grassroot Soccer is excited to announce the MP & Silva Cup – a unique and exclusive soccer match taking place at Emirates Stadium in support of Grassroot Soccer in celebration of our partnership with MP & Silva.
MP & Silva is a leading international media company that owns and distributes television and media rights to some of the most prestigious sports events around the world. GRS and MP & Silva are united in partnership through our shared passion for soccer and the unique power of the game to captivate audiences and unite communities worldwide.
In partnership with MP & Silva and Arsenal Media, this incredible soccer tournament will be played at the Emirates Stadium on the hallowed Arsenal turf on May 20, 2012. Teams will compete to win the coveted MP & Silva trophy. The event brings together organizations and individuals from all over the world who support and enable GRS to deliver our proven HIV prevention and life skills interventions.
GRS is thrilled that GRS Co-founder and Zimbabwe Director, and former Zimbabwe National Team Captain, Methembe Ndlovu, will be joined on the field by former Arsenal and French National Team player Robert Pirés. Pirés joined Grassroot Soccer as an Ambassador in 2011, determined to leverage the international acclaim he has earned through soccer to inspire and mobilize vulnerable young people to live healthy and productive lives. In this unique match, Pirés will captain the GRS Team and inspire them to victory!
