Norwich, VT (January 28, 2015) – Grassroot Soccer, an international nonprofit that uses the power of soccer to educate, inspire, and empower youth to stop the spread of HIV, and Positive Tracks, a national, youth-centric nonprofit that helps young people get active and give back using the power of sport, today announced the renewal of their partnership to combat the spread of HIV & AIDS among youth in Africa by inspiring the next generation of active philanthropists. The Positive Tracks program plugs into charitable athletic events to match youth fundraising dollars generated through athletic efforts (doubling dollars kids raise), and helping charities build their youth engagement platform.

St. Paul's tournament

In 2015, Positive Tracks continues as an official presenting partner of all Grassroot Soccer 3v3 PickUP Tournaments. These events raise awareness about the AIDS epidemic and raise critical funds for HIV education, testing, referrals to health services, and empowerment initiatives for African adolescents living in challenging circumstances. Positive Tracks has provided a matching challenge grant to double the dollars youth participants raise. Through this partnership, young people in the U.S. learn about HIV prevention and AIDS and also experience the power of hands-on philanthropy, and the rewards of connecting to a cause on their own terms and turf. In addition, Positive Tracks will be supporting the ‘philanthletic’ efforts of youth participants on Team GRS in multiple endurance events, such as the NYC Marathon, the Vermont 50, and the Chicago Marathon.

“We are delighted and grateful to have the continued support of Positive Tracks,” said Grassroot Soccer Founder & CEO Dr. Tommy Clark. “Their support directly improves the lives of young people in the communities where we work, while simultaneously inspiring the next generation of philanthropists and change makers.”

“Grassroot Soccer is a powerful and collaborative partner,” says Positive Tracks Founder & President Nini Meyer, “and we’re proud to play a small role in helping Grassroot Soccer mobilize to stop the spread of HIV. Together, we’re leveraging the passion and skills of young people to create positive change across the globe.”

The Positive Tracks program plugs into charitable athletic events to double dollars and amplify awareness generated by ages 23 and under. Best news is: Every dollar raised by youth and matched by Positive Tracks goes to our charity partners to benefit the global populations and places they serve.  The end result sees youth of all demographics mobilized to move and empowered to give back: starting with themselves, starting in their own backyards.
