Dear America,

The global health community needs your support. Without it, many lifesaving advances could soon be in peril.

A powerful new video from Friends of the Global Fight (Friends) encourages Congress to honor existing U.S. commitments to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria (Global Fund) by appropriating $1.35 billion for FY 2018. Global health investments overall represent a tiny fraction of the U.S. budget – just a quarter of 1 percent. And steady investment in the Global Fund will help keep the world on the path to ending the epidemics of AIDS, tuberculosis (TB), and malaria for good. Grassroot Soccer is proud to be featured in the video.

The global community has come so far in the fight against these diseases that we’re now at a tipping point. We must push forward to keep from falling back. A loss in momentum could affect the Global Fund’s ability to prevent millions of new infections and ultimately save millions of lives in the future. At stake is the resurgence of major diseases, as well as lost economic opportunity.

The good news is we can stop that from happening. For every $100 million contributed, the Global Fund is able to support programs that:

  • Save 133,000 lives
  • Avert 1.9 million new infections or cases across all three diseases
  • Spur $300 million in domestic investment for health
  • Create $2.2 billion in longterm economic gains

That’s a significant return on investment – and we can’t risk losing it to proposed budget cuts.
