Benefits of the Legacy Team

Making a legacy commitment to Grassroot Soccer allows you to know that the causes and values you care about will carry forward, while helping to simplify planning and decision-making for your loved ones. This process can also offer tax advantages for your estate.

Bequests

A simple way to arrange for a future gift to Grassroot Soccer is through a bequest. A bequest is made by stating in your will that some amount of money, particular property, or part of your estate be gifted to Grassroot Soccer.

Typical bequest language in a will looks like: “I hereby give, devise, and bequeath [insert gift] to
I want to leave $ or % of my estate to Grassroot Soccer.” While this is sample language, it is best to speak with your financial advisor or estate attorney.

There are several benefits of a bequest. It is revocable, so you have the flexibility to change your mind at any time; you have continued access to your assets during your lifetime; and there are potential tax savings.

Beneficiary Designation

You can donate all or part of your retirement assets – such as an IRA, 401(k) pension, life insurance, or other tax-deferred plans – to Grassroot Soccer. To reserve gifts through a retirement account, you simply log in to your retirement account, request a beneficiary designation form, and contact your account administrator to make Grassroot Soccer a beneficiary. When designating Grassroot Soccer as a beneficiary, please use our legal name and address: Grassroot Soccer, Inc.; PO Box 632, Hanover NH 03755.

Qualified Charitable Distributions

If you’re age 70.5 or older, you may be eligible for the IRA Charitable Rollover. This allows you to make a gift to Grassroot Soccer from your IRA during your lifetime without paying income tax on the amount transferred and satisfies your RMD (Required Minimum Distribution). The rollover is made by simply instructing your IRA plan administrator to transfer funds directly from your IRA account to Grassroot Soccer.
