With two of our founders, Dr. Tommy Clark and Methembe Ndlovu, in London last week, Grassroot Soccer UK hosted a reception at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. The event was attended by like-minded individuals and supporters of Grassroot Soccer, spanning a wide range of UK-based organisations, partners and donors. It was a great opportunity for the London community to meet the founders, network and learn more about our work in Southern Africa.

A highlight of the evening was Methembe demonstrating the Grassroot Soccer SKILLZ activity “Cut and Cover”, which uses penalty kicks to highlight the effectiveness of male circumcision and condoms in reducing the risk of HIV transmission.

Lucy Mills, GRS Business Development Manager for the UK, reflected on the event: “The occasion brought together familiar and new faces, all united in our belief in the power of sport to inspire social change. The turnout was fantastic and we are thrilled with the support and the momentum we are building here in the UK.”
